Why choose TAP® Pest Control Insulation?

Pest Control

TAP® insulation uses borates, a natural pest repellent, unlike traditional insulation. This powerful treatment targets common household pests like termites, silverfish, ants, cockroaches, and centipedes. When pests touch the borate-treated insulation, they ingest it and pass away.

Installation Process

Attics

Homeowners with existing insulation

TAP® Pest Control Insulation is a “loose-fill,” cellulose insulation, so it is installed by being blown into attics on top of existing insulation using specialized machines.

Walls

Contractor or Homeowners remodeling

After the drywall is installed, we create small holes in the walls. We blow in the TAP® insulation using hoses, then reseal the holes and paint the walls (if needed).

Homeowners may qualify for a $1,200 tax credit

You may receive a tax credit up to $1,200 per year on your federal taxes if you replace your old attic insulation with TAP® insulation because of its energy efficiency properties.

Congress has introduced new energy efficiency home improvement credits for insulation (section 25C) through the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. This Act also includes rebates managed by the Department of Energy.

To apply for your tax credit, complete Form 5695 on your tax return. A tax professional can assist you in claiming these credits and keeping up with any changes in requirements and procedures due to the new law. If you have questions about the tax implications of installing insulation, consult a tax professional.

Most common questions about TAP® pest control insulation

TAP® Pest Control Insulation, the most TRUSTED pest control insulation on the market today, is an EPA-registered (89140-1) pesticide that is also an insulation. Scientific studies back TAP® insulation’s ability to control bugs and protect your home. While other insulation may include an EPA-registered treatment, it only protects the insulation—not your home, its structure, or your family’s health—from pest damage. TAP® Pest Control Insulation, however, is an EPA-registered insulation and has the unique advantage of protecting your home from pests.

When viewed in the context of the entire product lifecycle (from production to operation to disposal), cellulose insulation is one of the greenest building products in the world. Manufacturers use over 80% recycled paper to make cellulose insulation, consuming less energy than other insulation products. It helps homeowners save energy, lowers the home’s carbon footprint, and creates no waste after installation.

No, pests cannot build up tolerance to the borates in TAP® Pest Control Insulation, so the pest control properties remain in effect as long as the insulation remains in the home.

Installing TAP® Pest Control Insulation over existing attic insulation typically takes half a day. However, installation time depends on the size of the home.

First, your current insulation most likely does not have pest control properties, so adding TAP® insulation would be greatly beneficial. Second, the US Department of Energy recommends a fairly significant amount of insulation (R-49) in residential attics. This amount far exceeds most building codes and specs which means that many homes do not have enough insulation. It has been estimated that 65% of homes in the US are under-insulated, and most homes over 10 years old have about 1/3 of the recommended amount of insulation.

No. TAP® Pest Control Insulation does not have an odor ad there is no off-gassing found in many other insulations. The borates in TAP® Pest Control Insulation actually help absorb and reduce any foul odors.

Installers blow in TAP® Pest Control Insulation using a machine, allowing it to fill your walls or attic completely. It naturally seeks out nooks and crannies, creating a snug fit throughout the entire cavity. Because attic stud cavities vary in size, traditional insulation rolls often leave gaps and voids. Unlike those rolls, installers never cut or stuff TAP® insulation to fit around pipes and conduits—preserving its full effectiveness. Once in place, it covers your ceiling like a seamless, insulating blanket.

TAP® Pest Control Insulation keeps homes cooler in summer and warmer in winter by reducing the ability for heat to transfer through walls and attics. Because TAP® Pest Control Insulation is denser than traditional insulation, air does not move through it well. It resists heat transfer by convection, as well as conduction and radiation. And since there aren’t the leaks and drafts associated with ordinary insulation, mechanical systems don’t work as hard and can often be down-sized, saving you money. Areas in the home maintain more uniform temperatures between floors and ceilings, upstairs and downstairs, even next to exterior walls.

This is common myth often perpetuated by other insulation industries. Most houses are cellulose (made from wood and forest products). TAP® Pest Control Insulation contains a fire-retardant that actually makes homes safer in the event of fire. Traditional insulation can melt creating a chimney-like effect in a wall. TAP® Pest Control Insulation, with its fire-retardant characteristics, will not hold a flame and forms a “charred” surface barrier which limits the spread of fire.

The only claims permitted are those which are found on the TAP® Pest Control Insulation EPA label (89140-1) which do not cover mice, rodents, or squirrels. However, TAP® Pest Control Insulation does not act as a food source for these animals.

No, TAP® Pest Control Insulation is lethal to certain insects that come in contact with the insulation. Many companies claim that the boric acid in their product “resists” or “repels” insects. Scientific studies reveal that boric acid is undetectable to insects. Insects cannot be repelled from something that they cannot detect, so individuals or companies that make such claims are uninformed about the scientific properties of boric acid.

The best company to hire for sure! They gave me an appointment within a week which was amazing, they worked with my busy schedule and was able to come out on a Sunday and were on time! They gave me the best pricing out of all the companies I called, the work was done in a great manor, I didn’t have to hover to keep an eye on anything, they made me trust their judgement and work. Wendy is just so sweet and easily reachable as well as Alissa who was so helpful every time I called and answered all my questions when I called the office. So I will be recommending their business to all my friends and business associates! Thank you so much!

Highly recommend this company. They are a local neighborhood company that does amazing work and the prices are better than any other competitor I reached out to. I have used other companies in the past and this was by far the smoothest tenting process I’ve had. Brandon & Wendy were wonderful the entire process and always kept me up to speed on where we were in the process. The installation of the tent was seamless and the team that put up the tent were very professional and courteous from start to finish. I would definitely use them again!

Wendy and her team at My Termite Company are awesome! We have treated two properties using their services. They always respond fast. They kept me updated about every stage of the fumigation and repairs process. They gave me a fair price and took into account all changes that happened during the process. We are very happy with their work and customer service!
